Fathom Events and Lincoln Center Present
America’s Premier Latino Dance Company
In Select Cinemas on November 12
WHAT: Fathom Events and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts present the third dance company in the “Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance” series with Ballet Hispanico performing “CARMEN.maquia and Club Havana” on November 12. The event will also include a special introduction by Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan of “Kelly and Michael.”
Led by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispanico performs repertory that reflects the ever-changing diversity of Latino cultures. The physically charged and sensual choreography of “CARMEN.manquia” fuses contemporary dance with nods to the Spanish paso doble and flamenco. With a visual concept inspired by Picasso’s black-and-white palette, and movement that is full of elaborate partnering, the dance is a bold and electrifying reimagining of this fiery and tragic tale. Whereas, the intoxicating rhythms of the conga, rumba, mambo, and cha cha are brought to life in “Club Havana” by choreographer Pedro Ruiz, a native of Cuba, in this reimagined nightclub populated by virtuoso dancers.
