Fairfield University’s Accounting Program Ranked #1 in Connecticut

The undergraduate and five-year program was heralded for its AACSB accreditation, CPA requirement completion option and student-to-faculty ratio.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (November 6, 2015) — Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business has once again received Top 10 accolades. The school’s undergraduate accounting program has been named the best in Connecticut by Accounting Degree Review, an independent online resource, which provides rankings and critical reviews of the nation’s best accounting and finance degree programs.

Accounting Degree Review formulated the list by reviewing how each of the 10 schools ranked in publications like Forbes, US News and World Report, Bloomberg Business and Princeton Review. Additionally, the rankings considered the accreditation of the schools, including the Dolan School’s distinction from the Association of Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The article highlights the programs fifth-year option, which allows students to receive their Master of Science in Accounting degree and satisfies the 150 credit hour requirement necessary to sit for the CPA examination. Also noted is Fairfield’s 11:1 student to faculty ratio.

“This recognition reflects our strengths of quality faculty, high CPA pass rates, strong placement in Big 4 accounting firms, and stellar performance by our students and alumni,” said Dr. Donald Gibson, Dean of the Dolan School of Business. “This is a great accomplishment for our learning community.”

Earlier this year, Fairfield’s Master of Science in Accounting program was included in the Top 5 AACSB accredited programs in New England by The Accounting Path, an information website for students interested in accounting careers. With the program’s small class sizes, the article recognizes Fairfield as a University that allows close relationships with professors and classmates, prepares students for success on the CPA exam, and targets the “Big 4 employers” for graduates.
