(Sarasota-Manatee) What are you doing on New Year’s Eve? How about spending it up on the roof? The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee invites one and all to celebrate New Year’s Eve in high style on the rooftop of downtown Sarasota’s Palm Parking Garage, 1289 N Palm Ave., at the area’s first silent disco.
What’s a silent disco?
A newer concept in the music world, a silent disco offers a fresh perspective on the nightclub scene. “Instead of dealing with loud music that makes it challenging to socialize, a silent disco offers the opportunity to listen and dance to your favorite music without deadening your ear drums or straining your vocal chords,” says Len Steinberg, program director at the Federation.
According to Steinberg, at a silent disco each guest can tune into multiple channels of live entertainment piped into wireless, noise-canceling headsets. Each headset has a channel selector and a volume slider, so that attendees are in total control over their musical experience. “Want to have a conversation with your friends? Simply lay the headphones around your neck and put them back on when you’re ready to hit the dance floor. With two DJs playing a variety of music, from oldies to Top 40 to house music, the odds are great that you’ll hear your favorite tunes,” says Steinberg.
To add even more flash to the evening, the popular Israeli DJ artist, Dor Dekel, will be the headliner for the night. As a DJ, Dekel has played the biggest clubs, events and festivals in Israel, and also hosts his own successful radio show, “Line Out with Dor Dekel,” on the most highly rated music radio station in Israel.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there. With a front row seat to Sarasota’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display, the party will be rocking. “The Federation is excited to partner with Louies Modern, which will provide several food stations on the rooftop where guests can purchase a variety of tasty treats and refreshing sips throughout the night,” says Steinberg.
“What better way to salute the new year than with great music, an awesome array of food and drinks, and an incredible venue with front row seats to fireworks and the Pineapple Drop?” says Rachel Saltzberg, a co-chair of the event. “Whether VIP or general admission, it’s going to be Sarasota’s hottest New Year’s Eve ticket.”
General admission tickets are $70 ($80 at the door), and include party favors and a free champagne toast at midnight. VIP tickets are $150 ($180 at the door), and include access to a private lounge area, open bar, assorted hors d’oeuvres, party favors, champagne toast at midnight (VIP tickets based on availability). The venue will be tented and heaters will be provided. 18+ to attend; 21+ to drink. For tickets visit: www.SilentDiscoSarasota.com.
