January 23, 2015 — Due to high ticket demand, STEPHEN ADLY GUIRGIS’ play, BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY, has been extended for two weeks and will now play through Sunday, March 22nd at Second Stage Theatre.  The production is currently in previews and will officially open on Wednesday, February 11.

Tickets are available by calling the Second Stage Box Office at 212-246-4422 or by visiting the company’s website, www.2ST.comBETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY is performed at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre, 305 West 43rd Street (just west of Eighth Avenue).

The production features Stephen McKinley Henderson, who received rave reviews for his lead performance as Walter “Pops” Washington at the Atlantic Theatre Company’s run this summer, Victor Almanzar (Repertorio Espanol, LAByrinth Theater), Elizabeth Canavan (The Little Flower of East Orange), Rosal Colón (The Motherf*cker with the Hat), Liza Colón-Zayas (Second Stage Theatre’s Water by the Spoonful and Living Out), Ron Cephas Jones (Of Mice and Men and 2ST’s Wildflower), and Michael Rispoli (“The Sopranos”).

City Hall is demanding more than his signature, the landlord wants him out, the liquor store is closed — and the Church won’t leave him alone.  For ex-cop and recent widower Walter “Pops” Washington and his recently paroled son Junior, the struggle to hold on to one of the last great rent stabilized apartments on Riverside Drive collides with old wounds, sketchy new houseguests, and a final ultimatum in this dark comedy from the Tony nominated author of The Motherf*cker with the Hat and Jesus Hopped the A Train.  For Pops and Junior, it seems the Old Days are dead and gone — after a lifetime living BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY.

BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY features scenic design by Walt Spangler; costume design by Alexis Forte; lighting design by Keith Parham; and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery.
