Emergency Services personnel honored at awards ceremony

SARASOTA COUNTY – Dozens of men and women who work in Sarasota County Emergency Services were honored Thursday for their achievements during a special quarterly awards ceremony.

Recognition included Officer of the Year, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Phoenix Awards, which was given to those emergency personnel who have brought others back to life. Also among those awarded was Richard Bartoszek, former Honor Guard Commander who has since retired.
Recognition was also given to Tristan Sarney, who helped save his father’s life by performing CPR on him at their home in December. Tristan has also served as an intern in U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan’s office and received a special certificate on behalf of the congressman.
According to Sarasota County Emergency Services Director Rich Collins, these quarterly awards represent the continued hard work and sacrifice put in every day to help make Sarasota County a safe community.
“This is an awesome opportunity to celebrate the daily efforts of Sarasota County Emergency Services personnel,” said Collins. “This ceremony highlights the enumerable actions to help citizens of Sarasota County.”
