“SIPS” Somewhere In Palm Springs
Makes Debut At Producers Guild And On A Screen Near You
New, animated hipster web-series is featured as part of
Producers Guild West Web Video Screening Series
LOS ANGELES (June 23, 2014) – Comedian/writer NATE CLARK and partner ALLEN LOEB have wrapped production on Somewhere in Palm Springs (SIPS), an animated comedy web-series featuring a crew of fabulously disaffected hipsters sitting poolside at an ultra-hip Palm Springs hotel. The first episode of SIPS will screen on June 24, 2014 as part of the PRODUCERS GUILD WEST Web Video Screening Series in Beverly Hills. The complete series will then begin airing online starting June 25th.
“We’ve all had that “SIPS” moment-in-time, or a string of them,” said Clark. “You’ve either spent time poolside with a group of entertainingly annoying friends, heard the stories, or have, in some way, observed the uniquely and increasingly ridiculous behavior of the new generation of hipsters, in a world where everything is gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free and completely hilarious.”
Each episode finds us eavesdropping on a group of 20-somethings as they discuss one-night stands, B-list celebrities and general randomness while waiting for their food to arrive. The series stars DREW TARVER (How I Met Your Dad), JENNIE PIERSON (The B- in Apt 23) and JIMMY FOWLIE (The Comeback), alongside Clark and Loeb themselves. The colorful visual style was inspired by the art of SHAG – a Palm Springs icon. Real-life partners (life partners…they’re a couple) Clark and Loeb wrote the series together. Additionally, Loeb drew the characters and Clark animated them. When asked if writing together put a strain on their relationship, Clark said:
“Allen is the funniest person I know. Whenever I felt neurotic or bossy, I just had to remind myself that he’s funnier than me. It was mostly painless.”
Clark and Loeb met while developing their comedic chops at the GROUNDLINGS THEATER. Both continue to perform at the UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE (UCB), where Tarver and Pierson also perform.
Clark recently participated in the 2014 Fox Writers Intensive and is known online for his viral response video “I Towed Joey Graceffa’s Car.” The response to the video (over 3 Million views to date) encouraged him to launch his own YouTube channel as a platform for original sketch comedy. Clark has steadily gained subscribers as well as interest from a variety of production companies.
The audio for Somewhere In Palm Springs was recorded at YouTube Space LA.
