The acclaimed indie band has signed with Capitol Records and is now at work on the follow-up to its fifth studio album, Hold My Home. Released in October 2014, Hold My Home contained the Gold-certified single “First,” whichwas No. 1 at Alternative radio for nine weeks and in the Top 10 for 73 weeks. Views for the accompanying video, which can be seen
, exceed six million.
Cold War Kids are Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz and David Quon. Formed in Long Beach, CA in 2004, the band’s breakthrough debut Robbers & Cowards was released to considerable acclaim in 2006. The darker Loyalty To Loyalty followed two years later, while 2011’s Mine Is Yours introduced deeper anthemic qualities to the eclectic group’s catalog. 2013’s Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, featuring the hit single “Miracle Mile,” was a return to their raw live sound. Cold War Kids have sold more than 500,000 albums, over 1.5 million singles and have more than 50 million streams to date.
The New York Times noted, “This quartet from California plays the kind of elastic, vaguely soul-inspired indie rock (the vocalist Nathan Willett commands a sinewy, undulating falsetto) that gets music critics shimmying in their desk chairs, clacking out breathless, immediate endorsements.” “Willett’s hugely impressive voice is the band’s calling card – there’s really no comparison,” said the Los Angeles Times. “Seeing CWK live is seeing them at their best. It’s a stage show full of raucous vigor…there’s never a dull moment,” said MTV News.
