MIAMI – Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s second annual Gala evening takes place on Friday, February 3, 2017.  For one spectacular evening, Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra are joined by world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts Knight Concert Hall.  Yo-Yo Ma will perform as soloist in Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor.  The program also includes Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien and Smetana’s Overture to The Bartered Bride.

Chairing the Gala again this year are Cleveland Orchestra Miami Board President Jeffrey Feldman and Susan Feldman.  Honorary Chairs for the 2017 Gala are Cleveland Orchestra Miami Directors Jan R. Lewis, Patrick Park, and Rick and Margarita Tonkinson.

“Cleveland Orchestra Miami will host its second annual gala with virtuoso cellist Yo-Yo Ma,” said Gala Chairperson Susan Feldman.  “The evening will feature Mr. Ma in concert with The Cleveland Orchestra, followed by a grand celebration of food and wine on the Arsht Center Plaza.  Last year’s gala was a great success, and Jeff and I are looking forward to chairing another magical evening to celebrate Miami, Franz Welser-Möst, and the musicians of The Cleveland Orchestra.  The evening is going to be spectacular!”

The Gala concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at Knight Concert Hall.  After the concert, guests will be treated to an elegant dinner at the Adrienne Arsht Center Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts.  The dinner menu will be created by BRAVA BY BRAD KILGORE under the leadership of the Center’s new culinary director.  Kilgore is co-owner of Wynwood’s famed restaurant Alter. A two-time James Beard semifinalist, he was recognized by Food magazine as one of 2016’s Best New Chefs in America.
