Today, Capitol Music Group (CMG) and Genesis announced the line-up for 2020’s Capitol Cuts. Black Pumas, Masego, and Donna Missal are featured in the intimate, experiential series of videos, which capture the artists’ one-take performances, recorded direct to vinyl at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. The boldly-designed GV80, Genesis’ first-ever SUV, serves as the driving force behind the artists’ Capitol Cuts performances, delivering them to the doors of the legendary studios. Since its completion in 1956, Capitol Studios has welcomed iconic artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Beastie Boys and many others.
Masego – hailed as “one of music’s most promising chameleons” by NPR Music – kicks off the series today with four videos – including a performance of “Silver Tongue Devil,” a track from his acclaimed new EP, Studying Abroad. View all four videos HERE on Masego’s Vevo channel.
Donna Missal will unveil her Capitol Cuts videos on Vevo this Thursday, December 10. Accompanied by her band, she’ll perform six songs from her new album, Lighter, including “Hurt By You,” which NYLON said, “was made for rolling the windows down and speeding on the backroads.” Atwood Magazine praised as Lighter as “messy, raw and utterly genius.”
On Tuesday, December 15, Black Pumas will share their videos from the Capitol Cuts series on Vevo. The band will perform six songs from Black Pumas (Deluxe Edition), which received a GRAMMY nomination for Album of the Year and was released via ATO Records. “Colors,” which earned GRAMMY nods for Record of the Year and Best American Roots performance, is among the songs they will record direct to lacquer.
Each artist’s performance will be plated, pressed and available in limited quantities for shipping to fans shortly. To pre-order, visit http://www.capitolcuts.com/. See below for a complete list of songs. Capitol Cuts launched in late 2019.

Masego is a saxophone player, a singer, a rapper, a comedian, a DJ – a singular talent and surprising presence. Lady Lady, his 2018 debut album, put the singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist on the map. In the two years since its release, Masego has toured the world, headlining sold-out tours and starring on festival stages across every continent but Antarctica. “Tadow,” the lead single, has surpassed half a billion streams and been certified Gold by the RIAA. That same song has been used in over two million video creates on TikTok. The album cemented him as a name to watch in the burgeoning generation of like-minded Black musicians, with features and collaborations across marquee projects from the likes of Kehlani, Dreamville, KAYTRANADA and more. His new EP, Studying Abroad (EQT Recordings and Capitol Records), is a concept experience that lyrically chronicles a relationship from sultry start to its explosive finish.
About Donna Missal:
Donna Missal, who has amassed over 35 million global streams in her career to date, released her sophomore album, Lighter, via Harvest Records earlier this year. In a feature that put Donna “In Conversation” with Shania Twain, Interview Magazine said, “Missal’s thunderous vocals, mixed with her poignant lyrics and a country-meets-90s rock attitude, transformed the record into a wildfire of emotional upheaval making way for growth accompanied by a newfound sense of creative empowerment; one that comes from being in full control of her story.” The New Nine noted, “Donna is the badass artist we need right now.” Lighter is the follow-up to her 2019 debut album, This Time, which Donna supported with a sold-out, 20-date U.S. headline tour and numerous festival appearances. Her interpretation of Cigarettes After Sex’s “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” appears on the Promising Young Woman: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which was released in early December 2020.
About Black Pumas:
Black Pumas’ self-titled debut album was released on ATO Records in 2019 to acclaim from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR Music, Billboard, and many more. Following its release, the band was nominated for Best New Artist at the GRAMMY Awards and played sold-out tours across the U.S. and Europe. Black Pumas (Deluxe Edition) – a double LP featuring a set of bonus tracks – followed in 2020 and received a GRAMMY nomination for Album of the Year. “Colors,” which earned GRAMMY nods for Record of the Year and Best American Roots performance, has been streamed over 116 million times, and the official live video of the track has been viewed over 50 million times on YouTube. Follow-up single “Fire” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart, becoming their second track this year to achieve the top spot, following “Colors.” The Guardian observed, “Black Pumas are the answer to the exciting question of what it would sound like if Sam Cooke or Neil Young joined the Wu-Tang Clan.”
