BOOKS FOR KIDS LANDS IMPACT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Palmetto, Florida, July 21st, 2021 – The Books For Kids literacy program – which partners with the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County, Inc (ELC) – has been honored with a 2020-21 Impact of the Year award.
Books For Kids (a program of the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch) is headed up by Director Ted Lindenberg, who received the award at the annual Rotary District 6960 convention, which covers the area from Naples to Sarasota-Manatee.
The program began almost nine and a half years ago, and at that time had just five volunteers helping 100 children in five classrooms, in one school. Today, Books For Kids has 150 volunteers going into 150 classrooms in 11 schools in both Manatee and Sarasota counties. Volunteers help 2800 children and distribute 2800 books a month.
Ted Lindenberg said: “It is a huge honor to receive this award, and I would like to dedicate it to all the volunteers who work tirelessly to help so many local children improve their literacy skills. Books For Kids is certainly making a difference in the lives of these children.”
ELC Chief Executive Officer Paul Sharff said: “We would like to congratulate Ted and all of his team on this well-deserved recognition. ELC is proud to be a partner with Books For Kids, and it has been fantastic to see the program grow over the years. We look forward to supporting them in future endeavors to give our local children the best possible chance of success in life.” |
