Psychic Reader” Debuts on Stereogum Today

Debut LP Psychic Reader Out 7/17 via Afternoon Records

“A gritty two-and-a-half minutes of wobbly bass, wailing guitar, and front woman Kerry Alexander’s slinky vocals, it is a blast—and there is more like this to come.” FADER

“Shame” goes down like a refreshing, kick-you-in-the-face-strong cocktail, most likely swilled after a booty call gone bust. Wash that man right out of your hair.  SPIN

“Complete with the crunchy kick of slightly manic-sounding guitar and the pulse of some very punchy bass…”  Paste Magazine

Minneapolis-natives Bad Bad Hats will release their debut full-length, Psychic Reader, on July 17 via Afternoon Records (Yellow Ostrich, Haley Bonar). The album is comprised of experimental beats, growling guitars, and catchy pop melodies with vocals that are both dreamy and strikingly deep.

The band previously released gritty garage single “Shame,” featuring an irresistible bass line and wailing guitar. Today, the trio shares “Psychic Reader,” an epic cinematic track perfect for a warm summer drive with the windows rolled down. Revealed by Stereogum, “Psychic Reader” is available to post & share HERE.

Bad Bad Hats are Kerry Alexander (vocals, guitar, wisdom), Chris Hoge (drums, courage), and Noah Boswell (bass, power). Bolstered by experimental touches from producer Brett Bullion (Poliça, Bon Iver), the indie rock trio take a refreshingly rebellious approach with lyrics that challenge gender conventions. With Psychic Reader, the band has created an artistically honest and widely accessible work.
