Sarasota Keys are back
SARASOTA, FL – The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County
Sarasota Keys: Six new pianos have been added to the original six. Each is currently being painted by a new local artist and will be ready for display by the kick-off event on Friday, Nov. 7.
In preparation, artist Viktorija Bulava and local artisan Ron Pruitt had tuned the pianos in preparation for the kick-off event that will feature a five-piano concert.
The new artists that will be added to the project this year are: Viktorija Bulava, Joseph Melancon, Dennis Kowal, Jill Hoffman Kowal, Rob Dempero and the First United Methodist Church Youth Group. The original seven artists who were selected to paint the first spinet pianos for the Sarasota Keys are Jack Dowd, Richard Capes, Gale Fulton-Ross, Steven Strenk, Cassia Kite, Tim Jaeger and Lori Loveberry George. All the pianos will be placed around Sarasota for the public to enjoy after the Nov. 7 concert. Details on the locations are coming soon.
The project was curated by Tim Jaeger, CEO and co-founder of sarasotavisualart.com, co-founder of local arts collective sARTq, and gallery assistant Selby Gallery Ringling College of Art and Design. Each of the new artists was recommended by the original group to complete the pianos.
