(Sarasota, FL) Art Center Sarasota and Saks Fifth Avenue celebrate the arts and Saks Fifth Avenue’s “Beauty Week” with “Brushes With Greatness,” a day of art, beauty and pampering to benefit Art Center Sarasota, Friday, November 7, in Saks Fifth Avenue at The Mall at University Town Center, 81 N. Cattlemen Road, Sarasota. The day begins with a VIP breakfast, 9 to 10:30 a.m., provided by Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue, and continues in Saks Fifth Avenue’s beauty department, where artists Javier Rodriguez, Zach Gilliland and Bix Mannion will create post-makeover portraits. Guests will also receive a complimentary tote bag with a $150 beauty purchase. In addition, Rodriguez and Gilliland’s “@themoment” installation, featured this year in Art Center Sarasota’s “Florida Flavor” exhibition, will be installed in Sak’s window at the outside entrance to the mall. Tickets for the VIP breakfast are $100 and include a $50 gift card to be used toward purchases made in Saks’ beauty department that day. Seating is limited. For reservations, call Iris Starr, development director at Art Center Sarasota, at 941-365-2032 or email her at [email protected].

“We’re thrilled to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue on this innovative event highlighting both art and beauty,” says Lisa Berger, director of Art Center Sarasota. “Saks continues to be a major player in our area’s rich arts and cultural scene and we’re happy to partner with them.” She adds that, along with the three portrait artists, Art Center Sarasota is providing a portrait photographer to capture newly made-over faces. “Whatever the medium, we want guests to come away with a unique and special memento of their day of beauty,” she says.

Proceeds from this event will be used to support Art Center Sarasota’s exhibitions and education programs.

About Art Center Sarasota

Art Center Sarasota was the first arts and cultural institution in Sarasota. It was founded in 1926 as the “Sarasota Art Association” by Marcia Rader, the art supervisor for the Sarasota County schools district. In the early years, the group met monthly and sponsored exhibits in rented facilities. The Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1943 and has been in its current location in the Sarasota Bayfront Cultural District since 1949. Art Center Sarasota is now a membership-based organization that offers curated and juried exhibitions, adult and youth education programs, outreach initiatives for underserved youth, and culturally related public programming. Art Center Sarasota’s mission is to provide Sarasota with opportunities for creative expression and art appreciation through art education, exhibitions and cultural programs.
