LOS ANGELES (August 30, 2014) – Arclight Films, alongside distributor Entertainment One (eOne), is pleased to announce the world premiere of TEEN LUST, a sardonic comedy starring Cary Elwes, Jesse Carere, Daryl Sabara, Annie Clark, Kristin Bauer van Straten , produced by Kyle Mann (WRECKED, CAPOTE), co-written by Jason Stone (This is the End), and directed by Blaine Thurier (LOW SELF-ESTEEM GIRL, MALE FANTASY, A GUN TO THE HEAD), on Wednesday, September 10th at 7:45PM at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema. A Q&A with cast and crew will commence immediately following the screening.
TEEN LUST is a treat for audiences and distributors alike and something to which everyone can relate,” said Clay Epstein, SVP Sales and Acquisitions for Arclight Films. “This delightful and edgy comedy is carefully written and adeptly directed with extraordinary performances by a uniquely talented cast. TEEN LUST is full of brilliant twists and turns that will keep audiences entertained and laughing throughout, wondering what could possibly happen next.”
TEEN LUST is about Neil (Carere) an awkward high school student who strives to lose his virginity before his parents and their Satanic cult can sacrifice him to the Devil.
Having always had trouble talking to girls, growing up with strange parents and adhering to their unusual religion and now preparing for his confirmation, Neil’s social life is on the verge of disaster. The virginity pledge he took at church seems easy enough to keep until he learns its true purpose. On his confirmation night, Neil finds himself on a stone altar about to become a virgin sacrifice to Satan. With best friend Matt’s (Sabara) help he breaks free and escapes into the night on a mission to lose his virginity and save his life.
“The idea for Teen Lust came from when I was trying to put together a story with high stakes,” said Thurier. “I thought, ‘What’s a shared experience that everybody has?’ Losing their virginity. ‘What are the highest stakes for losing your virginity?’ Dying if you don’t – at least that’s what it feels like at the time.”
TEEN LUST was developed produced, and financed by Kyle Mann under his Independent Edge Films banner. Executive producers are Jeff Sackman, Kyle Bornais, Scott Leary, Anne-Claire Villeneuve, and David Reckziegel. Telefilm Canada and Manitoba Film and Music provided production financing.
“When I read TEEN LUST I was immediately drawn to the comedy and the concept, said Mann. “During my first read-through of TEEN LUST, I was laughing out loud. Furthermore, what was really attractive about the film to me was Blaine’s story about how he grew up with Evangelical parents and he had all these urges, like teenagers do. So even though the story seems fantastical it comes from a real place which gives it an extra solid foundation.”
Arclight Films is handling international sales excluding Australia, New Zealand South Africa and the UK.
eOne has  North American distribution rights for Teen Lust.
