Americans for Affordable Products Responds to Joint Statement on Tax Reform

“The nearly 600 members of the Americans for Affordable Products coalition are very pleased to see the released tax reform framework representing the viewpoints of the White House and majority party in the U.S. House and Senate has finally and definitively taken the misguided Border Adjustment Tax off the table.

“This framework – negotiated by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady and U.S. Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch – reflects the will of America’s consumers and employers by eliminating a policy that would have raised costs on families and risked jobs in the largest employment sector in the nation.

“Already among the most vocal advocates for the need to reform an antiquated tax code, our nation’s employers generally and Americans for Affordable Products specifically stand ready to help work with the executive and legislative branches of government to pass meaningful reform now that the threat of the Border Adjustment Tax no longer exists.

“It is time to get to work and reform America’s tax code.
