ALSO Youth announces the appointment of their new Executive Director, Nathan Bruemmer
Sarasota, July 24, 2017 –
Nathan Bruemmer will join ALSO Youth as Executive Director on August 7th.  Nathan recently graduated from Stetson University College of Law in May.  He is a native Floridian from the Tampa Bay area, a former public school teacher, and a lifetime advocate.  Nathan attended law school to sharpen his advocacy skills which began almost twenty years ago focused primarily on LGBT advocacy and grew to include homeless advocacy.  During law school, Nathan was selected as the Andrew S. Cray Law Fellow with the National Center for Transgender Equality in Washington, DC and worked on policy initiatives to advance transgender equality.  He has spent years working in the nonprofit sector, consulting for nonprofits, and has served on several non-profit boards.  Nathan currently serves as a Board Member for St. Pete Pride, the LGBT Bar Association of Tampa Bay, and TransAction Florida.  He is a former Board Member and Hillsborough County Chair for Equality Florida.  In June, Nathan was honored by the Tampa Bay Business Journal with the “Outstanding Voices” award for his work in LGBT advocacy.  “I am so honored to bring my experience to ALSO Youth and to use my voice to provide support and to advocate on behalf of all the LGBTQIA youth in the Sarasota area.”

ALSO Youth is a nonprofit organization that provides Advocacy, Leadership, Support, and Outreach to LGBTQIA youth, their families, and their friends.  The organization provides safe places where youth, age 21 and under, are accepted for who they are and are treated with respect and kindness regardless of any real or perceived differences.  Additional services include advocacy, consultation, and training for the community.
“On behalf of the board, youth, staff, and volunteers of ALSO Youth, I want to welcome Nathan.  We are excited to have someone as committed, passionate, and experienced about LGBTQIA issues as Nathan.  We all look forward to building on the progress made by outgoing Executive Director, Donna Hanley.  Donna and Nathan will work together to effect a smooth transition.”
Cindy Kalligher, Board President.
