NEW YORK – June 16, 2023 – Maggie Feldman’s debut EP, Pass Me By, revolves around reflections on heartbreak, healing and acceptance. Within the EP’s four songs, out today, Feldman’s heart-on-sleeve confessions consider the types of people that stay in our lives for small moments but who leave a lasting mark, embracing the idea that while something can be short-lived, it can still be impactful and formative. Pass Me By also addresses a sense of longing—what it is to wait for something and someone to stick, for genuine connection, or for a person not to simply pass on by.
“Meantime” captures the familiar feeling of biding time after loss, wanting for it to subside when memory simply will not let go, while “Paint Me in Color” is a wistful look at the end of a relationship. Both “High” and the title track were fever-dream compositions written in the thick of a breakup while searching for perspective. Feldman’s friends and family join her as background singers on the title track.
“Every song is in one way or another about someone coming into my life for a short while and eventually passing through,” she says. “[‘Pass Me By’] feels very nostalgic to me and was probably the most fun to record; having my friends and family sing at the end was super special to me.”
Feldman is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter who grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She has been writing original songs and singing for as long as she can remember.
“Music has always been a way to get out of my head and into the moment and creating this EP over this past year allowed me to do that during an extremely difficult time, in a way that no other medicine or therapy could,” she says.
