For immediate release – New York, NY – Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński releases Anima Sacra, his debut album on Erato, October 26, 2018. Featuring eleven Neapolitan arias, the album includes eight world premiere recordings of works from Nicola Fago, Francesco Durante, Francesco Feo, Domenico Sarro and Domingo Terradellas. Other arias are from Gaetano Schiassi, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Johann Hasse, and Johann Heinichen. Accompanying Orliński on the album is the ensemble il pomo d’oro conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev.
Orliński, who was born in Warsaw, Poland and trained at the Juilliard School, was the 2016 winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions. He was praised by The New York Times for combining “beauty of tone and an uncommon unity of color and polish across his range.”
Orliński and il pomo d’oro go on an international recital tour, including performances in France, Belgium, and the United States. He will make his Carnegie Hall recital concert debut in January 2019 with members of New York Baroque Incorporated.
Separate from his fast-rising singing career, Orliński is also a virtuoso in breakdancing, having earned fourth place at the Red Bull BC One Poland Cypher competition, second place on the Stylish Strike – Top Rock Contest and second place at The Style Control competition, among others. He has also been featured in a commercial for the streetwear company CROPP, as well as featured as a dancer, model and acrobat in campaigns for Levi’s, Nike, Turbokolor, Samsung, Mercedes-Benz, MAC Cosmetics, Dannon, and Algida. |
