(Sarasota, FL) Discover Englewood Art Center’s upcoming season and meet artists and teachers at its Fall Open House, Saturday, November 11, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at 350 South McCall Road in Englewood. This free, family-friendly event features artist exhibits, demonstrations, classes, a food truck and activities for children. For more information, visit www.ringling.edu/EAC or call 941-474-5548.
According to Samantha Parkinson, director of the Englewood Art Center, a division of Ringling College of Art and Design, the open house is the ideal time to get to know some of the region’s talented artists and art teachers. “Many of our teachers will be on-hand to demonstrate their expertise in a variety of media, including pottery, watercolor, oil painting and portraiture. Visitors are thrilled to experience the art-making process up close; it enhances the understanding of that medium.”
Parkinson adds that parents and grandparents are welcome to bring children; kids’ activities include bubble wrap prints and rock painting. She adds that the three separate exhibitions will be on view that day, including “Costal Contemporary,” featuring works by Tim Jaeger, Javier Rodriguez and Steve Strenk, in the Mitchell Gallery; “Life’s A Beach: Weather and Waves” in the Loranger Gallery; “Works by Gary Maria” in the Mangrove Gallery; and “Works by Irina Kaplun” in the Members Gallery.
The Englewood Art Center also offers a variety of ongoing art classes, exhibits and other special events for children and adults. For more information or to register, visit www.ringling.edu/EAC or call 941-474-5548.
