Tom Bailey
It’s been nearly 30 years since fans of the Thompson Twins were able to experience a live performance by the band that created such hits as “Hold Me Now,” “Doctor Doctor,” “You Take Me Up” and “Love On Your Side,” among others; but the wait is over. Fans now have the opportunity to see Thompson Twins’ lead singer Tom Bailey perform the group’s hits live at Mandalay Bay.
Howard Jones
Howard Jones burst onto the music scene in 1983 and quickly became known for his high-energy performances and such hits as “What is Love?,” “Like to Get to Know You Well,” “Things Can only Get Better” and “No One is To Blame.” Jones is joining the Retro Futura Tour for the second consecutive year.
Midge Ure (Ultravox)
The career of GRAMMY Award-winning artist Midge Ure, best known for his UK chart-topping hit “If I Was,” has spanned decades. The artist evolved from his participation in such groups as The Rich Kids, Thin Lizzy and Ultravox, among others, to performing solo and directing a series of charity rock concerts. In addition to directing the charity concerts in honor of Nelson Mandela and for The Prince’s Trust and Wicked Women for Breakthrough, Ure co-organized the legendary Live Aid concert. He also co-wrote and produced “Do They Know It’s Christmas” to raise money for relief of the 1983 – 1985 famine in Ethiopia. The hit became the top-selling single in UK Singles Chart history, selling one million copies in the first week, and stayed at No. 1 for five weeks.
China Crisis
China Crisis released its debut album, Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms, Some People Think It’s Fun to Entertain, in 1982. The album included the hits “Christian,” “Working with Fire” and “Steel Possible Pop Songs, Vol. 2.” The group made its biggest chart run in 1984 and 1985 with the Top 10 hit “Wishful Thinking.”
Katrina Leskanich (Katrina & The Waves)
Katrina Leskanich, the former lead singer of Katrina & The Waves, the GRAMMY-nominated band that created the hit song “Walking on Sunshine,” began her solo career in 2001 with a series of live performances in Europe. Leskanich later released her first solo album, Katrina Leskanich, in 2005 and celebrated the 25th Anniversary of “Walking on Sunshine” with THE LIVE ALBUM in 2010.
