Conscious – the follow-up to Broods’ debut album, Evergreen – is out today and available HERE. The New Zealand duo, composed of Georgia and brother Caleb Nott, will kick off a North American headline tour in support of Consciouson August 1 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The summer run will include a show at New York City’s Webster Hall on August 2 and an August 23 concert at The Novo in Los Angeles. Tickets are available now at www.broodsmusic.com.
The album’s anthemic first single, “Free,” isalready in the Top 30 at Alternative radio. It has more than 7 million streams worldwide on Spotify and nearly 10 million streams worldwide across all platforms. The single has been certified Gold in Australia and New Zealand. NPR hailed “Heartlines,” which Broods co-wrote with fellow New Zealanders Lorde and Joel Little,as “a bubbly, revelatory dance track…soon to be a summer anthem.” Pigeons & Planes observed, “‘Heartlines’ works wonders with Georgia Nott’s crisp voice and Caleb Nott’s well-constructed production.” MTV called it “an instantly satisfying song to obsess over” and Idolator praised its “bright, cinematic flair.” The album also includes “Freak of Nature,” a darkly personal ballad about embracing and overcoming your own personal demons, which features Tove Lo on vocals.
Joel Little (Lorde, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding), who produced Evergreen, served as Executive Producer on Conscious, producing many of the tracks. Additional producers include Broods, Alex Hope (Troye Sivan) and Captain Cuts.Evergreen, released in 2014, contained the singles “Bridges” and “Mother & Father” and climbed into the Top 10 of Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart.
