THE WHO: SENSATION – THE STORY OF TOMMY DVD RECEIVES 2014 TELLY AWARD
BRONZE PRIZE IN DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY
New York, NY (April 28, 2014)—Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce that the recently released The Who Sensation – The Story Of Tommy has just received a 2014 Telly Award. The Telly Awards honors the very best in film & video production, and awarded The Story Of Tommy the Bronze prize in the category of “Documentary.”
“Sensation: The Story of Tommy has finally brought to screen the legendary classic Who album with the story behind the deaf, dumb and blind boy,” states Andrew Winter, Managing Director TV Sales & Music Acquistion at Eagle Rock Entertainment. “It was told in length by its composer and writer Pete Townshend and lead singer Roger Daltrey, who also played the role of Tommy in the 1975 movie. It was a pleasure to be working with The Who to bring the story to new audiences on television and DVD.”
Released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 11 via Eagle Rock, Sensation – The Story Of Tommy delves into the creation and cultural impact of The Who’s seminal album Tommy. Fully supported and endorsed by the band, this in-depth film is composed of brand new interviews with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, archival interviews with the late John Entwistle, and contributions from key players who were involved in the making of the album. The DVD includes not only the full documentary (which originally aired in August 2013 on BBC TV), but also the bonus 33-minute German TV show “Beat Club,” which boasts previously unreleased footage.
This is a great accolade for Eagle Rock, and justly reflects the extraordinary influence that Tommy still has to this day.
