Sunshine State Games Registration Opportunities Available for the Sarasota/Bradenton and Palm Beach County Festivals
TALLAHASSEE – On-site registration is available for three sports of the Sunshine State Games Sarasota/Bradenton Festival this weekend, as Archery, Disc Golf and the Paddling Sprint Races will accept entries on Saturday and Sunday (Archery only) morning prior to competition.
The remaining sports of the weekend are closed for competition, but are free of charge and the public is encouraged to venture out to one of the host facilities. Florida’s Olympic-style Sports Festival, the Sunshine State Games, is the longest-running State Games in the nation. Since its inception in 1980, the Sunshine State Games has provided amateur sports opportunities for Floridians of all ages.
Registration continues for the Palm Beach County Festival as seven sports will be in action the weekend of June 18-19. The Palm Beach County Convention Center will host Fencing, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling while BMX Cycling will be held at Okeeheelee Park. Registration is also available for two more events the weekend of June 18-19. The Sunshine State Games Track and Field Championships, will be held at Lake Minneola High School and is open to athletes of all ages with a Youth and Open and Masters Divisions. The Sunshine State Games Track and Field Championships also serve as a qualifier for the 2016 Florida Senior Games in December.
The Sunshine State Game Table Tennis Championships will be played at Simpson Community Park in Lakeland with competition in 12 different skill level divisions and a Sandpaper Singles and Super Big Ball division. The month wraps up with Sunshine State Games Water Polo Championships in Coral Springs and Badminton Championships in Orlando.
