ITNY:UNPLUGGED
New York, NY (June 2, 2016): Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) will conclude its 30th anniversary year and 2015/2016 season with the performance of ITNY:UNPLUGGED on June 16, 2016 at Chelsea Piers, Sky Rink. The performance will be followed by a Skate with the Company open to all.
ITNY:UNPLUGGED is titled as such because the show will be done in natural light and without sets – the focus being purely on the dancing on ice and choreography.
The performance will bring together 15 world-class competitors and performers in several new works and repertory pieces, as well as some young talented apprentices.
Elisa Angeli, ITNY”s Ensemble Director, has created a new class piece based on the Company’s Master Edge Class exercises – titled “Crescendo”, where the simplest of steps “Crescendo” in both beauty and difficulty.
The Company will reprise “Hommage”, a heartfelt piece created by Florentine Houdinière of Paris to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks there on November 13th, as well as the many others who have fallen due to acts of violence throughout the world. This piece premiered in NYC during ITNY’s City Skate Concert Series earlier this spring.
The performance will also feature the amazing Quebec ice artist and international competitor Elladj Baldé performing his Michael Jackson Tribute, and Company Members Mauro Bruni performing the NY debut of “Afternoon of a Faun” and Sally Jean Watkins performing “O Mio Babbino Caro”.
ITNY: UNPLUGGED will be presented on Thursday, June 16 at 7:00 P.M. at Sky Rink and Sunset Terrace Pier 61, Chelsea Piers.
