2nd Annual “SIX & A MIX!” Event Monday, May 9th at Suncoast Technical College
Sarasota, FL – May 2, 2016 – The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office (SCFEO) announces its second annual SIX & A MIX! Event will take place next week, on Monday May 9th with three separate components:
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM Workshops sign-in/registration
3:00 PM – 5:30 PM Six separate workshops taught by professionals in film, television and other media creation, on these topics: Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Acting, Glamour & Horror SFX Makeup, and Lighting. NOTE: Screenwriting workshop will also include noted Los Angeles movie & television screenwriter Barry Blaustein via Skype (extensive credits include many episodes of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, plus Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, The Ringer, The Honeymooners, The Klumps, Police Academy and Boomerang, to name just a few).
5:00 PM – 5:30 PM Mixer sign-in/registration
5:30 PM – 6:15 PM Networking Mixer of beverages and hors d’oeuvres, including Vendors Expo tables.
6:15 PM – 7:30 PM VIP SPEAKERS PANEL – including feature film producers Jim Schumacher and Joe Farrell from New York’s Olive Productions, indie film and television producer Victor Young, and award-winning network television and film director and producer John David Coles (House of Cards, Homeland, 11-22-63, Sex & the City, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order, Gray’s Anatomy, Bates Motel, Elementary & many others).
“Last year’s inaugural SIX & A MIX event was a delight for not only students but also adults of all ages interested in ‘the Industry’ of electronic media,” says Jeanne Corcoran, director of the SCFEO, which is a division of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County. “More than one hundred attendees participated in the workshops, and more than 100 in the mixer and panel event that followed,” said Corcoran. “We particularly look forward to this year’s event with excitement due to the great instructors and outstanding VIP panelist/speakers.”
There are limited scholarship funds available for students to attend free of charge and they should email: [email protected] including their teacher’s name, school, and their own name to be placed on that list.
The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office is joined by the Bradenton Area Film Commission as its co-film commission sponsor, and the hosting venue sponsors are Suncoast Technical College and CTEX, together with accommodations sponsor The Aloft Hotel.
