Sarasota Contemporary Dance Partners with Kahwa Coffee
Saturday, April 23 – Saturday, April 30, to Celebrate National Dance Week
Sarasota Contemporary Dance (SCD) and Sarasota’s newest downtown coffee shop, Kahwa Coffee, are partnering to celebrate National Dance Week, April 23-30. When the shop’s customers are invited to drink coffee, eat snacks and meet SCD dancers during the special dance week promotion, ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to the SCD children and adult summer dance programs.
Kahwa, which features hand-crafted coffee drinks, teas, pastries, snacks and breakfast sandwiches, as well as coffee by the pound, is located at 1487 2nd Street in downtown Sarasota (adjacent to the Urbanite Theater and across the street from Whole Foods). Kahwa Coffee is excited to partner with Sarasota Contemporary Dance for National Dance Week! Kahwa Coffee is a coffee roaster and retailer celebrating its 10th Anniversary along with SCD who is also celebrating their 10th season!
Coffee and Dance are no strangers to each other here in Sarasota. One of Kahwa’s founders, Sarah Perrier, was a professional dancer, so supporting SCD and the dance community in Sarasota “is a great fit” says SCD Artistic Director Leymis Bolaños Wilmott.
“Kahwa is happy to be working with Sarasota Contemporary dance to bring awareness to the community as well as support their educational summer programs” says Owner of Kahwa Coffee Sarah Perrier.
“Come learn about SCD’s upcoming June performance, summer programs, and hang out with a company member. While you enjoy a one of a kind coffee, you will also be supporting local contemporary dance, and a one of a kind dance company” says SCD Company Manager Melissa Coleman.

About Sarasota Contemporary Dance
Sarasota Contemporary Dance, was formed in 2002 as Fuzión Dance Artists, Sarasota’s first contemporary dance company, by Co-Founders Leymis Bolaños-Wilmott and Rachael Inman. Now in its 10th season, the company was renamed on September 18, 2015, and continues to bring dance to the community through eclectic performances and educational programming, while collaborating with artists and community groups to enrich the human experience.
