Paul Simon, Amy Ryan, Bill T. Jones, Matthew Weiner and more celebrate National Poetry Month at Lincoln Center on April 27

Music legend Paul Simon, actress Amy Ryan, chef & food critic Ruth Reichl, singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, composer Mohammed Fairouz, visual artist Lesley Dill, choreographer Bill T. Jones, “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner, Brainpickings founder Maria Popova, and poet/memoirist Elizabeth Alexander will read their favorite poems in celebration of the 20th anniversary of National Poetry on April 27, 2016 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.

The reading, titled “Poetry & the Creative Mind,” is organized by the Academy of American Poets. The annual event promotes the importance of our country’s rich poetic legacy and also raises critical funds for the nonprofit organization’s education programs, which include free lesson plans and resources for teachers on Poets.org, the world’s largest publicly-funded website for poets and poetry, and a special writing project for thousands of students.

“Poetry & the Creative Mind” begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $35-75 and are available through the Lincoln Center box office: http://www.lincolncenter.org/show/14th-annual-poetry-the-creative-mind
