Los Angeles – Jan. 28, 2015 – HDNET MOVIES presents award-winning favorites and classic thrillers in February, headlined by the “Oscar® Fridays” block—airing every Friday in primetime all month long—and the “Villain-Tine’s Day” marathon on Sunday, February 14, at 8pE.
The 11-film “Oscar® Fridays” lineup kicks off on February 5 with a night of Best Picture Winners at 6:15pE, featuring Morgan Freeman as a kindly chauffeur who develops an unlikely friendship with spunky widow Jessica Tandy in DRIVING MISS DAISY. Next, two kids from rival gangs fall in love during a deadly turf war in the iconic 1961 musical WEST SIDE STORY, with Natalie Wood, at 8pE. And plantation owner Meryl Streep has an affair to remember with photographer Robert Redford in OUT OF AFRICA, at 10:40pE.
HDNET MOVIES celebrates a trio of Best Sound Winners on February 12, with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as reporting duo Woodward and Bernstein, risking their careers to uncover the truth behind Watergate in ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN, at 5:40pE. Steven Spielberg’s out-of-this world epic E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL follows at 8pE, starring Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore as siblings who befriend a stranded alien. NATURAL BORN KILLERS follows at 10:10pE, starring Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis as psychopathic sweethearts-turned-media-darlings, in this controversial cult classic directed by Oliver Stone.
