12-DATE U.S. HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF OCTOBER 9 IN MIAMI
LOS ANGELES, CA —Rising UK dance duo Gorgon City has been heating up airwaves, stages and dancefloors, and now, their anticipated debut album Sirens has been released digitally today, October 7, via Capitol Records. Available for purchase on iTunes, the seventeen-song deluxe LP is laced with infections deep bass, lush synths and stunning collaborations with artists including Jennifer Hudson, Katy B, Erik Hassle, MNEK and Maverick Sabre. The duo’s signature production technique paired with the impressive guest vocalist performances, properly introduces us to Gorgon City’s flourishing world of electronic club pop.
Gorgon City burst onto the electronic music scene earlier this year with breakout single “Ready For Your Love” featuring and co-written by MNEK, which went to #4 on the UK Singles chart and garnered praise from the likes of The New York Times and Pitchfork in the States. Comprised of North London producers Matt and Kye, the compelling duo has crafted an album of “soulful house music,” that harkens back to eras past while it remains fresh and modern.
Kicking off with “Go All Night,” a retro-sounding deep bass tune co-written by Kiesza and featuring vocals from sultry songstress Jennifer Hudson, this song dares you to stand still as J-Hud commands the track with dance-floor diva expertise. The track saw its debut on V Magazine last week while REVOLT called it “…a recipe made in UK Garage heaven.” Additionally, the mesmeric and provocative track “FTPA,” features buzzing Swedish artist Erik Hassle and was unveiled on THE FADER. Hassle’s hauntingly honest vocal delivery paired with the track’s moody production is as captivating as it is emotionally raw, ranking with the above mentioned as a standout on this album.
The afterhours Sirens banger “6AM” featuring Bronx native Tish Hyman was described as “classic vocal house, replete with a bossy bassline and sultry vocal, complemented by synth fills and treble percussion” by VICE’s Thump, when they premiered the track.
The dynamic duo will make their way to the U.S. for a 12-date run starting October 9 in Miami, and hitting key markets including New York City and Los Angeles. Amidst this tour, Gorgon City will do something remarkable when they take part in the first-ever live streamed performance 30,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean as part of Virgin Atlantic’s #FlightDecks event on October 23. #FlightDecks will feature back-to-back performances from Gorgon City and Black Butter label mates Rudimental on Virgin’s inaugural flight of its new 787 aircraft from London to Atlanta.
About Gorgon City:
Gorgon City is comprised of North London producers Matt and Kye. Polished, powerful and party-minded, their sound very quickly caught the attention of tastemakers as disparate as; Skrillex, Zeds Dead, Disclosure, and Steve Aioki with their early explorations into this new venture. Gorgon City has been on a steady rise on both sides of the Atlantic since the release of their Crypt and Real EPs and impressive performances at this year’s Coachella, SXSW, and Miami’s Winter Music Conference. More recently, the duo played primetime sets at Hard Summer, Outside Lands, and Electric Zoo. Additionally, Gorgon City will embark on their first U.S. headline tour this October in support of Sirens.
