111% Increase in Total Video Views; 41% Increase in Total Unique Viewers since February 2014

 

ABC News Digital Celebrates Record Month in Mobile Video Views; Mobile Video Engagement Up 32% MOM and 140% YOY

For a record 26 consecutive months the Yahoo-ABC News Network has maintained its premier position as the #1 source of news and information online. In March the Yahoo-ABC News Network delivered 2.4 billion page views to 77 million unique visitors worldwide on desktop, posting a steady lead over online news competitors CNN, Huffington Post Media Group, NBC News Digital and Fox News Digital. The Yahoo-ABC News Network continued its winning streak in March, serving more total page views to more unique visitors than any other news source, according to desktop-only data provided by comScore. From the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines jet to the crisis in the Ukraine, turned to the Yahoo-ABC News Network for live streaming video, breaking news alerts and original digital videos from around the globe.

Traffic across the Yahoo-ABC News Network surged in March. Total page views increased 31% from February to March 2014 while total unique visitors and total minutes spent across the combined network increased 12% and 28% respectively.

Last month millions of digital users tuned in to the Yahoo-ABC News Network for a wide array of video offerings on some of the biggest stories of the year. From live stream coverage of the Oscar Pistorius trial in South Africa to original digital video reports in the hunt for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in Kuala Lumpur, total video traffic across the Yahoo-ABC News Network skyrocketed. As a result, total video views increased 111% and total unique viewers increased 41% from February to March 2014.

Desktop traffic across the Yahoo-ABC News Network reached record highs last month with total page views up 31% since February 2014. For the month of March, the combined network delivered a total of 2.4 billion page views on desktop, placing ahead of the following news competitors:

  • Yahoo-ABC News Network ( 2.4 billion)
  • CNN Network by 23% (1.9 billion)
  • HPMG News by 125% (1 billion)
  • Fox News Digital Network 160%  (906 million)
  • NBC News Digital by 229% (716 million)
  • New York Times Digital 328% (550 million)
  • CBS News by 214% (751 million)

More unique visitors turned to the Yahoo-ABC News Network in March for 24/7 access to breaking news, live reports and exclusive interviews anytime, anywhere. Total unique visitors across the Yahoo-ABC News Network also increased 12% from February to March 2014, attracting a total of 77 million unique visitors for the month, surpassing: 

  • Yahoo-ABC News Network (77 million)
  • CNN Network by 1% (76 million)
  • HPMG News by 36% (56 million)
  • NBC News Digital by 60% (48 million)
  • CBS News by 111% (37 million)
  • Fox News Digital Network by 133% (33 million)
  • New York Times Digital by 142% (32 million)

GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo maintained its leading position as the #1 morning news show website last month, outperforming Today.com with an audience of 3 million more unique visitors. In March, 20 million unique visitors consumed 105 million pages of news, health, entertainment and lifestyle content across GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo compared to Today.com‘s 17 million unique visitors.

ABC News Digital Mobile:

In March ABC News Digital celebrated a record month for mobile video views. Mobile traffic continued to climb throughout the month with mobile page views, unique visitors and video views all up from February 2014. ABC News Digital’s mobile video engagement increased 32% month over month and 140% year over year. Thanks to strong traffic and higher levels of engagement, ABC News app installs increased 33% from February to March 2014.
