Women’s Resource Center Announces New Authors Series

Authors Margaret “Peg” Beck and George Schofield, Ph.D., are the inaugural speakers for the Women’s Resource Center’s new series.

(Sarasota-Manatee, FL) The Women’s Resource Center has announced its new Authors Series, a program that showcases regionally based authors. The series launches this month with two inspirational authors, Margaret “Peg” Beck and George Schofield, Ph.D. Each author will appear at both Manatee and Sarasota Women’s Resource Centers. For more information, visit www.thewomensresourcecenter.org or call 941-256-9721.

“The Author Series evolved from a pilot program consisting of an author discussion in Bradenton, which received great positive feedback,” says Ashley Brown, WRC’s executive director. “From a client survey, we know that financial education is important. Additionally, our peers and counselors have witnessed that restoring confidence nourishes the healing process, which is why we believe that these two authors are excellent speakers to kickoff this series.”

Margaret “Peg” Beck, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is a nationally certified senior human resources professional and the director of human resources at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. She is also the co-founder of a management consulting firm, Creative Consulting Associates, LLC, based in Sarasota and co-author of “The Female Architect: How to Rebuild Your Life” and “The Female Factor: A Confidence Guide for Women.” Beck will present a reading with discussion, Tuesday, September 19, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Women’s Resource Center in Manatee at 1926 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton; and Wednesday, October 11, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Women’s Resource Center in Sarasota at 340 S. Tuttle Avenue in Sarasota. The event is free but a donation to WRC is appreciated. To register, call 941-256-9721. For more information, visit www.thewomensresourcecenter.org.

Futurist, author and developmental psychologist George Schofield, Ph.D., has turned his focus on a stage of life that few have studied in-depth: the span between middle age and elderly. His insights have galvanized readers and audiences, who find his message powerful, inspirational and timely. In this talk, he will discuss his most recent book, “How Do I Get There From Here,” a guidebook for navigating life after retirement. Schofield will speak and read from his book, Tuesday, September 26, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Women’s Resource Center in Manatee, at 1926 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton; and Wednesday, September 27, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Women’s Resource Center in Sarasota at 340 S. Tuttle Avenue in Sarasota. The event is free but a donation to WRC is appreciated. To register, call 941-256-9721. For more information, visit www.thewomensresourcecenter.org.
