Maurice Richards and Jack Kesler, inducted into Asolo Rep’s Crystal Society for their remarkable $1 million+ gift, were dedicated to perpetuating the program rather than seeking recognition. Lifelong advocates of educational scholarships, they engaged in various roles at Asolo Rep, eventually becoming student sponsors for FSU/Asolo Conservatory. Their commitment reflects their unwavering dedication. Their dedication continues in spirit as this week, Asolo Rep received a generous gift from the estate of Maurice Richards/Jack Kesler. Their personal representatives Pam Hunt and Bob Tighe met with Linda and Michael to bestow the contribution.
Officially launched in the 2019-20 season, Asolo Rep’s Ground Floor is a place for artists to try new stories, characters, and forms as well as a place for audiences to see promising work in some of its earliest stages. Specifically focused on amplifying untapped stories from Black, Indigenous, MENA, Latinx, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, disabled and neurodivergent playwrights and creators, this series also gives audience members a chance to glimpse the future of Asolo Rep programming. A mix of digital showings, readings, and workshop/experimental performances, these events promise to unlock the joy of imagination and the thrill of discovery for all adventurous theatergoers.
