Building the foundation for future teamwork…
because learning begins the moment a puppy is born
Puppy Prodigies Neo-natal & Early Learning program is an innovative 501(c)3 non-profit organization that trains puppies to become service dogs for people with disabilities. Our puppies begin learning immediately, and by the time they are 12 weeks old, they know most of their service dog tasks.
Puppies as young as 13 days have been trained to do behaviors that become stepping stones to their ongoing training. Our program is designed to provide puppies with a long-term advantage at an early age in an effort to effect adult behavior tendencies.
Our initiatives can be used for puppies born at a shelter, or rescued from a dire situation to help counter-balance their negative experiences.  This program can also help reduce the number of pet dogs that are relinquished to animal shelters for behavior related problems.  Our program works for any puppy, whether in training to be a service dog, rescued puppies, or litter births at shelters.
We believe that young puppies should have the opportunity to develop emotionally, socially and physically from the moment they’re born.  This is done through exposure to a variety of activities and exercises that are necessary to enable an optimal learning experience.
Working with puppies at this neo-natal and early age instills a deep rooted bond to humans, gives them a solid foundation for all future endeavors, builds confidence, fosters enthusiasm for training, instills a willingness to be of service (in the case of a working dog future), reduces the possibility of a mature dog ending up in a shelter because of behavioral issues and so much more.
Our early learning focus is on developing puppies to their fullest potential, helping them explore, learn, achieve… making them a puppy prodigy!
We focus on critical stages of development starting at birth by providing the puppy with structured exercises and experiences such as early stimulation, conditioning, imprinting, habituation, socialization, environment enrichment, and training.
The world famous Surf Dog Ricochet the SURFice dog went through our program. She is best known for empowering kids with special needs, people with disabilities, wounded warriors and veterans with PTSD.
Our newest puppy is Encore (Cori for short). She was born September 16, 2016 and is training to become a service dog. If you’d like to follow her training sessions, please join our Facebook group, Surf Dog Ricochet & Rina too… an Encore!
