Sarasota, FL (May 10, 2016)–Visit Sarasota County (VSC) today announced at a brief rally this morning that the travel and tourism industry collected $7,416.11 in funds and 2,911 pounds of food during its Tourism Fights Hunger drive. This year we wanted to give back to our community, said Virginia Haley, president of Visit Sarasota County. “Visitors care about a community that cares for itself. We are proud the industry came together to provide food for children this summer.”

VSC kicked off the drive in honor of National Travel and Tourism Week, a national celebration of the impact of travel and tourism across the nation. VSC’s Tourism Fights Hunger began February 26 and ended April 29, 2016.
