SARASOTA, FL (August 17, 2015)- Visit Sarasota County (VSC) hired a new Director of Sports, Robert Wells. Prior to joining VSC, Wells most recently worked for the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau for a total of three years as Sports Marketing Manager and later promoted to Senior Sports Marketing Manager. As Director of Sports at VSC, Wells will be managing sports tourism strategy and goals along with recruiting sporting events to Sarasota County and expanding and creating new events that will benefit the area with a positive economic impact.
Wells studied at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH where he majored in Sports Management and minored in Business Management and Organization. Wells is also a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. With his extensive background in sports, VSC s welcome him as an addition to the team.
