Venice Theatre registration in progress for summer “TheatreFest” and Adult Classes

(Venice, FL) Registration is open for Venice Theatre’s summer adult classes and “TheatreFest” 2015, the popular annual children’s theatre camp. The theatre’s education and outreach department is offering four camp sessions and a variety of adult classes.  By popular demand, the students in the six-week afternoon camp will be grouped by age and will rotate daily through acting, singing, dance and technical theatre.  The students in the three-week camps will also rotate daily between acting, singing, dance and technical theatre.  In each session the students will learn about what it takes to put on a show and see how the theatre runs. For students who have completed second through 12th grades, there are two (2) three-week morning sessions (best suited for beginners) and one six-week afternoon session (best suited for more experienced performers). The fees are $326.00 and $470.00 respectively. The first morning session (8:30 a.m. – noon) begins on June 1, 2015. The second morning session begins on June 22, 2015. Both run Monday through Friday and will end with a musical theatre studio production on the theatre’s MainStage.  The six-week afternoon session begins June 1, 2015 and runs Monday through Friday from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m.  This camp session culminates in a fully-mounted ticketed production that will be performed on MainStage. “TheatreFest” instructors include Kelly Duyn, Cara Herman, Jan Wallace, Peter Madpak and Cathleen McClendon.

 

For students going into first and second grade, there is a two-week “TheatreFest” camp beginning July 13, 2015. It runs Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Children will rotate daily between singing, dancing, creative dramatics and technical theatre. The fee for the two-week grade 1 & 2 afternoon session is $230.00. Cathy Baudrit, Gladys Varga and Amy Blake are the instructors for this younger group.

 

The theatre is also offering four adult classes for men and women 18 and older.  Faster, Louder, Funnier will begin on June 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.  Tuition is $160.00.  This “how to” class explores farce and comedy while students have a whole lot of fun!  But What I Really Want to Do is Direct! will begin June 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tuition is $140.00.  Students will learn the basics of directing. Hey, Let’s Get Serious Here! will begin June 30, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Tuition is $160.00.  This class asks students to scale the emotional heights of the tragic character. Finally, 16 Bars to Success! will begin July 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Tuition is $105.00 Students will learn from professionals the how, why and what of cutting a song for auditions.  Adult instructors include Peter Ivanov, Kristofer Geddie and Michelle Kasanofsky.
