Venice Theatre keeps the entertainment flying on MainStage in March with Mary Poppins, two tribute concerts, classic rock ‘n’ roll, the Silver Foxes, and Peter Pan, Jr.
(Venice, FL) The height of season is here and a full slate of shows is keeping Venice Theatre hopping every day of the week in March. Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins continues Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. through March 15.
The theatre’s Concert Series continues on Sunday evenings at 8 p.m. and Mondays at 3 and 8 p.m. with Back Home Again, a Tribute to John Denver on March 1 and 2. Tom Becker, formerly of the New Christy Minstrels, stars in this tribute to the popular singer/songwriter. The Diamonds take the stage March 8 & 9. Best known for their hit “Little Darlin’”, the Diamonds offer tight harmonies, humor, lively choreography and fantastic instrumentals. Their blast-from-the-past celebration also features ‘60s hits like “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” “The Stroll” and “Silhouettes.” Let’s Hang On, the area’s hottest Frankie Valli tribute show, is back by popular demand March 15 and 16. Audiences are invited to re-live more memorable songs of the ‘60s with “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Walk Like a Man”, and more. A cast of ten seasoned performers delivers great harmonies, lively choreography and some of the biggest hits of the era.
After Mary Poppins closes, Venice Theatre’s senior performance troupe, the Silver Foxes, return with their annual MainStage show. This year’s production, A Foggy Day in London Town takes place on the “Poppins” set March 18-21 at 8 p.m. and March 22 at 2 p.m.
Not to be outdone by their elders, students enrolled in the Venice Theatre/Epiphany Cathedral School theatre program will put on Peter Pan, Jr. March 21 at 2 p.m. and March 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this show are available by calling the school at 941-488-2215.
