TCM’s Documentary “And the Oscar® Goes To…” Coming to U.S. Movie Theaters
On Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. local time and Wednesday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time, Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) invite movie lovers on a journey through Hollywood history as “And the Oscar Goes To…” tells the story of the little statuette that became the industry’s most coveted prize.
Packed with great moments from 85 years of Academy Award ceremonies, “And the Oscar Goes To…” begins with a Turner Classic Movies piece created exclusively for Fathom Events featuring TCM host Robert Osborne sharing his memories on the Oscars over the years. The special will also feature extensive clips from Oscar-winning and nominated films, plus behind-the-scenes ceremony footage from the archives of Hollywood Newsreel.

Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies Bring “And the Oscar Goes To…,” a Documentary Tracing the History and Greatest Behind-the-Scenes Moments of the Academy Awards, to Cinemas Across the U.S. this April
Centennial, Colo. – April 7, 2014 – On Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. local time and Wednesday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time, Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) invite movie lovers on a journey through Hollywood history as “And the Oscar Goes To…” tells the story of the little statuette that became the industry’s most coveted prize. Packed with great moments from 85 years of Academy Award ceremonies, “And the Oscar Goes To…” begins with a Turner Classic Movies piece created exclusively for Fathom Events featuring TCM host Robert Osborne sharing his memories on the Oscars over the years. The special will also feature extensive clips from Oscar-winning and nominated films, plus behind-the-scenes ceremony footage from the archives of Hollywood Newsreel.

“And the Oscar Goes To…” not only tells the history of the Academy Awards, but also highlights the relationship between the honored movies and major historical events and trends. Woven throughout the narrative are segments about the major categories, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Picture, as well as sidebars about the annual parade of fashions on the red carpet, memorable host monologues and emotion-packed tributes.
“And the Oscar Goes To…” is written, directed and executive-produced by Oscar-winning filmmakers Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. Christopher Pavlick and Rick Spalla also produced.
