MESQUITE, Nev. — The CasaBlanca Resort Casino hosted the ultimate King of Rock ‘n’ Roll competition during Elvis Rocks Mesquite June 19–20. Tribute artists in full Elvis attire competed in several categories, with Tyler James from Las Vegas being named King at the annual event.
Elvis tribute artists from across the country competed in three exciting preliminary rounds, donning classic flared jumpsuits to kick off the competition with the best of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Competitors highlighted their best Elvis song and dance moves for crowds of adoring fans. The rounds were judged by local show business professionals Kelly Clinton-Holmes, Ed Mathews and John Menitti, with top contestants from each preliminary round moving into the finals.
Elvis Rocks Mesquite concluded with the final round as contestants preformed their best Elvis accompanied by a live band, truly creating an authentic experience for fans. At the conclusion of the final round, the top four were honored with an awards ceremony.
Tyler James of Las Vegas took the grand prize by winning first place. Dave Hoover, also from Las Vegas, took second place while James King took third and Bruce Andrew Stewart took fourth.
The weekend tribute to Elvis featured more than just the competition as fans and spectators enjoyed a meet-and-greet, karaoke party and a talent show where contestants were able to show off their other Elvis tribute talents.
