SARASOTA, Fla. (December 7, 2019) —The Perlman Music Program/Suncoast celebrates the 16th Annual Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency – December 23, 2019 through January 4, 2020 – providing 20+ FREE musical events featuring young, international string musicians of rare and special talent. Founded in New York by Toby Perlman in 1994, The Perlman Music Program (PMP) offers unparalleled
musical training for students ages 12 and up, who play the violin, viola, cello, bass and piano. With a
faculty led by Itzhak Perlman and comprising some of the most gifted musical talents of our time, the
Program offers an artistic and personal experience that changes students’ lives forever.

For over two weeks, PMP students, faculty and staff take over the campus of USF Sarasota-Manatee for
intensive training and development. The public is invited to attend 20+ FREE orchestra and chorus
rehearsals, master classes, student recitals, as well as special ticketed events:

Free Events:

Orchestra Rehearsals Audience members witness “stop and go” rehearsal techniques under the
baton of Itzhak Perlman in addition to hearing his comments as he wears a
microphone throughout each rehearsal.

Chorus Rehearsals Observe rehearsals of the PMP chorus comprised of PMP students, PMP
faculty members, and select community male voices under the direction of
Chorus Master Patrick Romano.

Master Classes See PMP faculty working one-on-one with individual PMP students. Master
classes are public settings most accurately portraying PMP private lessons
and closed studio class experiences.

Works-in-Progress Recitals Works-in-Progress (“WIP”) Student Recitals are a signature ingredient of
the PMP curriculum, where performers are encouraged to take artistic
risks and explore their musical voice with the full support of their teachers
and peers. Selections vary with each recital and may include movements of
