The pump boys sell high octane fuel on North Carolina’s Highway 57 and the sassy dinettes run the Double Cupp diner next door. Between changing tires and baking pies, the gang performs a rousing, down-home mix of country western, rock ‘n’ roll and blues in this charming tale of friendship, romance and life’s simple pleasures.
Following the Pump Boys and Dinettes is Becoming Dr. Ruth playing in the Keating Theatre June 25 through July 27. The final show will be Taking Shakespeareplaying in the Gompertz July 23 through August 17. This is a summer season filled with great stories, great music, and great moments.

FST Improv

FST’s Improv troupe returns this Saturday, June 7 with Out of Bounds MatchUp for a summer of non-stop laughter and unpredictable fun for all.
Two teams take the stage in Bowne’s Lab to duke it out for the most laughs. Taking audience suggestions, the FST Improv actors will twist and turn them into something hilarious. Who will win the duel of fools? You get to decide as they battle it out.

FST’s Summer Sidekicks Series begins with At The Hop on June 10 in the Court Cabaret. America’s Premiere Doo-Wop group, performing songs of the 50s and 60s. This dynamic a cappella group entertains with a spontaneous humor and refreshing contemporary style of song. Celebrating their 25th anniversary, The Alley Cats are a perfect blend of musical talent and comic timing. Featuring songs such as “Life Could Be a Dream,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Here To Stay,” and “Duke Of Earl.”
Following At The Hop is Clearly Invisible: Magic Up Close with Carl Seiger playing July 8 to August 3. Rounding out the summer is Somewhere Over the Rose: The Songs and Stories of Judy Garland and Bette Midler starring Kathy Halenda, playing August 5 to August 31.

Summer Classes Have Begun

Session I summer classes are now under way. Summer is the perfect time to exercise your creative skills. It’s a time to relax, let loose, and try new things.
Two classes that will help to loosen the acting muscles are Monologue and Acting for the Camera.
Continue your acting training in a professional setting by focusing on the selection, preparation, and delivery of monologues. Deepen your emotional connection, clarify your physical choices, and build you confidence as you prepare work to be shown in new Bowne’s Lab. In this workshop, students will be challenged to reach the next level in their own development. Prerequisite – No Fear Acting or submission of an acting resume.
Tuesdays, June 3 – July 22 from 7:00 – 9:00pm
Designed for students with some previous acting experience either in the classroom or on stage. Find your film acting process in this practical acting for the camera class! Explore film acting techniques, learn about the shooting process, and then apply your discoveries in rehearsed and filmed scenes that can be used for your acting reel. Maximum of 10 students.
