Adult Education
Enroll Now for Fall Classes!
All people need a forum for self-expression, a vibrant place to grow and learn. Whether exploring spontaneity in an Improvisation class or portraying truth on stage in an Acting class, we come together, in the richness of the theatrical environment to explore the process of art, the movement of life.
FST’s professional teaching artists teach the Stanislavski method of acting, which embodies the belief that every person is a deep canvas where life experience, emotion and empathy paint the characters of life, thus bringing truth on stage. Florida Studio Theatre is dedicated to nurturing the individual growth of each student.
To enroll, call Pamela Smith,
Education Administrator, at (941) 366 – 1350.

Florida Studio Theatre is excited to announce our 2014-2015 Fall Children’s Show, RAP-Punzel, by Beth Duda and Adam Ratner. In this twist on a classic tale, Punzel uses her love of language and rhyme to overcome her fears and fully realize her authentic self. This humorous and touching tale of self-actualization will have you and your students tapping your toes and rooting for Punzel as she encounters challenges on her road to becoming RAP-Punzel. Single tickets are $6 and can be purchased by contacting Patrick A. Jackson, WRITE A PLAY Coordinator, at (941) 366-9797.
The WRITE A PLAY Program at Florida Studio Theatre is an in-school arts initiative, designed to inspire your students to be creative and to write plays. Hilarious and heartfelt, these poignant tales are a compilation of award-winning plays by young writers, just like your students, performed by a cast of professional actors. Past winners include everything from comedies like “Tuna Trouble” to dramas like “No War Can Tear Our Love Apart.” These authentic stories contain lessons of life and purpose for us all.
Last year, over 55,000 youth participated in this dynamic award-winning program. This year FST received plays from over 4,000 young playwrights in the state of Florida and around the world for the Young Playwrights Festival, which takes place each spring culminating the program.
Florida Studio Theatre’s WRITE A PLAY Program is currently celebrating 23 years of inspiring children from Kindergarten up through 12th Grade. The program offers students a three show subscription series for elementary schools in Sarasota and Manatee counties. It includes the Playmaker’s Tour (in-class), RAP-Punzel at FST and UNDER SIX (selected plays by students) at FST. We also offer a three show tour subscription and secondary WRITE A PLAY in-class workshops throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States.
