JIM ADDUCI ACTIVATED FROM 15-DAY DISABLED LIST

Matt West optioned to Round Rock

New York, NY – The Texas Rangers today announced that outfielder-first baseman Jim Adduci has been activated from the 15-day disabled list. Adduci (#35) will be active for tonight’s game with the New York Yankees in New York.

To make room on the roster, RHP Matt West has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Adduci has been sidelined since fracturing the little finger on his left hand sliding into second base on April 17 vs. the Chicago White Sox. He began a rehab assignment on June 3 and was 5-for-20 with one RBI in 5 games between Double-A Frisco and Round Rock. Adduci reinjured his left little finger on June 7 at Round Rock and remained on the disabled list.

He began a second rehab assignment on July 12 and was 5-for-14 with one homer and four RBI in four games at Frisco (July 12-16) and 5-for-15 with three RBI in four games at Round Rock (July 17-20). He made six starts at first base and two in center field in his most recent rehab stint.

Adduci began the season with the Rangers and hit .462 (6-13) with three RBI in nine games. The left-handed batter was 3-for-5 in the game in which he was injured on April 17. He made his major league debut with Texas in 2013, batting .258 in 17 games.

West allowed three runs over 4.0 innings in three games, his first major league action, since his recall from Round Rock on July 10.

With today’s moves, the Rangers’ major league roster remains at 40 players.
