Volunteers Needed to Assist Stage Management Team
The stage management team for the Banyan Theater Company is inviting interested people to volunteer for any of five “work parties” this summer. If you are inclined to join in the festivities (or know someone who is), please send a note to [email protected]. No, there won’t be champagne on hand. But there will be props to schlep and furniture to arrange and floors to tape.
Below you’ll find a list of the dates and activities involved. We’re on the lookout for four to six people to pitch in for three to five hours on each of those days. Please know that whether you’re available for one day only or for all five, you’ll be welcomed to the company. Also know that if you’re only available for a couple of hours on any given date, that’s ok too.
VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE for BANYAN 2014
Sunday, June 1, Noon
* Gather items from storage
* Converge on the Asolo at noon
* Offload
* Turn Allen Studio into our rehearsal hall/home for the summer
* Set up actor hospitality
* Arrange lock-up closet
* Tape the first show’s floorplan
* Arrange rehearsal furniture
Friday, June 20, 5pm
* Move into Cook and into dressing rooms
* Move show one props from Allen down into wings
* Re-tape the rehearsal hall floor to accommodate second show
* Arrange show two furniture in Allen
* Organize dressing rooms
* Set running lights
* Masking, first approximation
Sunday, July 13, 3pm
Strike Show One
* Move show one props into hallway for transport to storage
* Move show one furniture into hallway
* Move show two props downstairs into wings
* Re-tape the rehearsal hall floor to accommodate show three
* Arrange show three furniture in Allen
* Organize dressing rooms
(This is the one strike when we work three shows on same day)
Sunday, August 3, 3pm
Strike Show Two
* Strike show two props to hallway for transport to storage
* Move show three furniture into hallway
* Move show three props downstairs into wings
* Set up dressing rooms for show three
* Strike rehearsal hall down to the bones, pack hospitality, etc.
* Return exercise mats to armory
Sunday, August 24, 4:30pm
SEASON STRIKE
* Everything the Banyan owns leaves the building
* Police dressing rooms
* Make a clean sweep of wings
