Gypsy
Sept. 28 – Preview
Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 4-8, 13-15 at 7:30pm
Oct. 2, 9 & 16 at 2pm
“Everything’s comin’ up Roses” with the 1959 classic musical Gypsy! Loosely based on the memories of famous strip tease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, this piece is often referred to as the “Greatest American musical” by notable critics and writers.
With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents, the show follows the life of the ‘ultimate show business mother’ Rose, and her daughters Louise and June. With songs like “Let Me Entertain You”, “Some People” and “Together (Wherever We Go)” it is frequently considered to be one of the crowning achievements in 20th Century American Musical Theater. Theatre critic Clive Barnes wrote “Gypsy is one of the best musicals” and described the character of Rose as “One of the truly complex characters in the American Musical.”

Almost, Maine
Oct. 19-22 and 25-29 at 8pm
Oct. 23 & 30 at 2pm
A woman carries her heart, broken into 19 pieces, in a small paper bag. A man shrinks to half his former size, after losing hope in love. These playful and surreal experiences are commonplace in the world of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine, where on one deeply cold and magical night, the citizens of Almost experience the life-altering power of love. Directed by Sara Logan, don’t miss our first Backstage at the Players show of the season. Warm up your heart as we head into winter with this enchanting show.
