‘The Met: Live in HD’ 2016 Summer Encores’ Series Brings Top Performances Back to Select U.S. Cinemas This June and July

DENVER – May 2, 2016 – Fathom Events and The Metropolitan Opera present “The Met: Live in HD’ 2016 Summer Encores,” a series of four encore performances from past Live in HD seasons in select U.S. cinemas nationwide. The screenings will occur on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. local time throughout June and July. This summer’s series offers the return of Puccini’s Tosca (June 22), Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore (June 29), Puccini’s La Bohème (July 13) and Mozart’s Così fan tutte (July 20). Audiences won’t want to miss the opportunity to experience these exciting performances captured live from the famous Met stage in New York City.
Tickets for “’The Met: Live in HD’ 2016 Summer Encores” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in more than 300 movie theaters through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. Puccini’s timeless verismo score is well served by an exceptional cast, led by Patricia Racette in the title role of the jealous diva, opposite Roberto Alagna as her lover, Cavaradossi. George Gagnidze is the villainous Scarpia.
L’Elisir d’Amore – Wednesday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. local time (originally transmitted live on October 13, 2012)
Become enchanted by Anna Netrebko and Matthew Polenzani as they star in Bartlett Sher’s new production of one of the greatest comic gems in opera, taking on the roles of the fickle Adina and her besotted Nemorino. Mariusz Kwiecien is the blustery sergeant Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri is Dulcamara, the loveable quack and dispenser of the elixir. Maurizio Benini conducts.
La Bohème – Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. local time (originally transmitted live on April 5, 2014)
Puccini’s moving story of young love is the most performed opera in Met history. Kristine Opolais stars as the frail Mimì in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production, with Vittorio Grigolo as her passionate lover, Rodolfo.
Così fan tutte – Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. local time (originally transmitted live on April 26, 2014)
Music Director James Levine conducts Mozart’s beloved opera about testing the ties of love. The cast is filled with youthful Met stars: Susanna Phillips and Isabel Leonard are the sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, Matthew Polenzani and Rodion Pogossov are their lovers, with Danielle de Niese as the scheming Despina.
