The Ladies of The Meadows Country Club partner with Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation to give back…
Annual Fundraiser continues to inspire others to “think pink”
SARASOTA, Fla. (April, 2015)
Recently the ladies Tennis Group & Golf Groups from The Meadows Country Club held their annual Think Pink Fundraisers. The Ladies Golf Group held a 9 -hole scramble followed by a luncheon, raffles, silent auction of handmade items, and a fashion show. Prior to the day, they gathered Tee Sponsor donations in tribute to breast cancer survivors and victims. This year, they dedicated the event to Heather Brown, a long time and enthusiastic committee member who passed away in July, 2014.
The ladies Tennis Group event was organized by Kathie Sieben and her committee. Forty-eight ladies participated in the tennis round robin, which was followed by a luncheon and a fashion show on the deck, enjoyed by 80 ladies. Six of the players modeled tennis fashions and accessories from Total Tennis. Yulonda Greene from the Breast Health Center at Sarasota Memorial Hospital was the featured speaker. All members were invited to bid on the silent auction items and buy raffle tickets for a large screen smart TV.
Together the two groups raised $20,000 for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, earmarked for the Breast Health Center. Alex Quarles, CEO, President & Trustee of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation remarked “giving circles such as these are the lifeblood of many an organization. We are so very grateful that these ladies have chosen Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation as their community health partner and are even more thrilled that the Breast Health Center patients will be the recipient of these funds.” Yulonda Greene, Patient Care Director at the Breast Health Center, commented, “thanks to the Ladies Golf and Tennis Club Association, Meadows Country Club for their continued support of Sarasota Memorial Breast Health Grant Support Program. Their generous donation will make it possible to provide 175 free screening mammograms for uninsured, low –income residents of Sarasota County. We at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System believe that no woman should be without access to breast screening and diagnostic service due to lack of health insurance or the inability to pay. The financial support of community organizations such as the Ladies Golf and Tennis Club Association, Meadows Country Club as well as any other organizations wishing to partner with us is integral to our mission’s success.”
