The Island Players, Manatee County’s oldest community theatre, located at 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, is pleased to present, “The Red Velvet Cake War” by Jesse Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. The play runs from September 29 to October 9, 2016 and is being Co-Produced by Bortell’s Lounge.

 

Performances are Tuesday – Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $20 each. The Box Office opens on Monday, September 19 and is open from 9-1 on Mondays – Saturdays. On performance nights, the Box Office opens at 7 pm and for Sunday Matinees, it opens at 1 pm. Visa, MasterCard or Discover are accepted.

 

Mike Lusk directs this side-splitting comedy about a wacky southern family who have picked the worst possible time to throw a family reunion …. the hottest day of July, smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season.

 

In order of appearance, the cast consists of; Laura Morales as Cee Cee Windham, Judi King as Gaynelle Verdeen Bodeen, Cathy Hansel-Edgerton as LaMerle Verdeen Minshew, Jim Faltot as Aubrey Verdeen, Joanie Anton as Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen, Sadie Palmer as Peaches Verdeen Belrose, Judy Keenan as Bitsy Hargis, Rick Kopp as Newt Blaylock, Vinnie Conte as Sheriff Grover Lout and Purvis Verdeen, Robin Rhodes as Elsa Dowdall and Miriam Ring as Mama Doll Hargis.
