The Island Players, Manatee County’s oldest community theatre, located at 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, is pleased to announce that the first play of its 69th season will be “Happy Birthday”. Written by Marc Camoletti and adapted by Beverly Cross, this play became a long running success in London.

Mr. Camoletti, author of more than 40 plays, wrote this play as a sequel to “Boeing Boeing”, an audience-pleaser which was presented by Island Players two seasons ago. In fact, we are pleased to welcome back two actors from “Boeing Boeing” ; Travis Rogers who will again play the role of Bernard and Jennifer Eddy who will be playing Jaqueline. The cast, in order of appearance is Jennifer Eddy as Jaqueline, James Thaggard as Robert, Travis Rogers as Bernard, Sue Belvo as Brigit 1 and Jennifer Caldwell as Brigit 2.

In this play, Bernard asks his new mistress to his home on her birthday despite the fact that his wife and best friend will also be there. Soon identities and bedrooms are exchanged with increasing confusion. This a fun-filled farce with many twists and turns of the script and wild and wacky roles which will keep you laughing all night. Under the experienced directorship of Mike Lusk, “Happy Birthday” is sure to be a success. It opens on September 21 and runs until October 1, 2017.
