The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) and the Prototype Festival are thrilled to present mezzo-soprano Audrey Babcock and baritone Christopher Burchett in a special concert reading of La Reina, an electro-acoustic opera from composer Jorge Sosa and librettist Laura Sosa Pedroza on Sunday, January 17 at 5pm at FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall, 55 East 59^th Street, betw. This powerful new opera in development was inspired by some of the real-life players in the violent drug war taking place in Mexico and the United States. Telling the story of drug queen-pin Regina, La Reina takes a turn for the fantastic when the patron saint of drug dealers, La Santa Muerte, answers her prayers and forces her to take a look back at the choices that have shaped her life.
